About the Speaker<\/span><\/b><\/div>\n

Haniya Yameen<\/b>\u00a0is a Fulbright student at the Divinity School of University of Chicago. She is pursuing a Master\u2019s degree in Religious Studies with an interest in the Abrahamic Religions. She completed her Bachelor\u2019s degree from Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) majoring in Social Sciences with a concentration in Philosophy.<\/div>\n

Haniya grew up listening to Iqb\u0101l\u2019s poetry from an early age from her father who is an avid admirer of \u2018All\u0101ma Mo\u1e25ammad Iqb\u0101l. Her love for \u2018All\u0101ma turned into an academic interest as she pursued Bachelor\u2019s program at LUMS where she took courses in Iqb\u0101l\u2019s poetry and philosophy. She has done a comparative research on Rumi\u2019sMathnaw\u012b<\/i>\u00a0and Iqb\u0101l\u2019s\u00a0Jaw\u012bd N\u0101ma<\/i>\u00a0and traced the influence of R\u016bm\u012b\u2019s ideas on Iqb\u0101l\u2019s philosophy.<\/div>\n

She has previously taught Philosophy at International Islamic University, Islamabad. She is also the recipient of the National Youth Award (2008) by the Government of Pakistan and has represented Pakistan on international forums including Peking University, China (2011), and University of Alabama in Huntsville, USA (2009). She is a passionate student of classical music and enjoys playing the Tabla and is recognized by PTV as the First Female Percussionist of Pakistan.<\/div>\n
